About the lab
The Lab isn’t just another training program – it’s the gold standard for elite female athletes. Designed specifically for girls who are serious about taking their game to the next level, we provide top-tier skill development, game situational training, and mental performance coaching that go beyond the basics.
Founded by former Division 1 athlete Lexus Levy and experienced coach Marissa Mazzella, The Lab is built to develop strong, confident, and high-IQ players who can dominate at any level. Our program focuses on precision skill work, elite competition, and the mindset required to stand out in a male-dominated sport. With small group sessions, individualized training, and high-level opportunities, we create an environment where girls don’t just improve – they transform.
“Be Her.”
At The Lab, we live by this mantra. “Be Her” stands for body language, energy, hustle, effort, and respect. It’s about playing with confidence, bringing relentless energy to every drill, and never backing down from a challenge. It’s about giving everything you’ve got and respecting the game, your teammates, and yourself.
Other programs teach basketball. We build elite female athletes. If you’re ready to train, compete, and lead at the highest level, welcome to The Lab.

About the coaches
Lexus Levy – CEO, Co-founder & Coach|Competitor |Culture builder|player developer
Lexus Levy has been connected to the game for as long as she can remember. She picked up a basketball at just two years old—not because anyone told her to, but because she was always on the sidelines of her brother’s practices, trying to dribble a ball twice her size. That early love became a lifelong commitment.
Raised in an under-resourced household in Binghamton, NY, Lexus learned early what sacrifice, perseverance, and resilience truly meant. Her life shifted when she was awarded the Mason McKan Benevolence Fund heading into 7th grade. That scholarship gave her access to BX, a training program that quickly became her second home. It offered her more than skills—it gave her structure, community, and people who believed in her not just as a player, but as a person.
Lexus was gifted, no doubt—but she knew talent wasn’t enough. Her edge was her work ethic. She chose to outwork everyone: 5:45AM training sessions before school, practices after school, and AAU weight training or practice at night. She embraced the grind because she believed in something bigger.
At Seton Catholic Central, Lexus made her mark—leading her team to sectional, regional, state, and federation championships, scoring over 1,000 career points, and earning multiple accolades. She went on to play Division I basketball at George Washington University, helping her team win the Atlantic 10 Championship and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Off the court, she pursued a degree in Criminal Justice, driven by a deeper mission: to serve, lead, and pour into others with purpose.
But what stayed with Lexus most wasn’t the trophies or titles—it was the realization that every young athlete needs someone who truly understands them. Someone who looks like them. Someone who can push them while also pouring into them with love, belief, and intention.
That’s why she co-founded The Lab – Elite Player Development. The Lab is more than a training program—it’s her way of giving back to the game and to the next generation. It’s a space where young athletes, especially girls, feel seen, supported, and empowered. Lexus is committed to helping players grow in skill, confidence, and character—because she knows firsthand what it’s like to chase a dream when the odds feel stacked against you. And she knows just how powerful it is to have someone in your corner.
Marissa Mazzella – Co-Founder & Coach|Point Guard|Off-Ball Guard|Player Developer|Leader
Marissa Mazzella brings a lifelong passion for basketball and a deep commitment to youth development both on and off the court. A product of River Hill High School’s powerhouse girls basketball program, Marissa made her presence felt early. She was named JV captain as a sophomore, and her leadership and grit earned her a quick call-up to join the varsity team’s playoff push. By her junior year, she was captaining the varsity squad, running the floor as both a point guard and an off-ball guard – guiding her team with poise, vision, and toughness.
Her leadership on the court naturally evolved into coaching. Marissa began coaching in 2017, running summer camps for boys and girls ages 8 to 16. What started as a summer hobbie quickly became a calling. In 2023, she transitioned to year-round coaching, stepping fully into her purpose—building up young athletes and helping them grow through the game.
Her coaching philosophy is rooted in work ethic, confidence, and character. She’s passionate about teaching the fundamentals, building mental toughness, and showing players – especially girls – that they are capable of more than they think.
Whether she’s designing drills, leading workouts, or giving a pep talk after practice, Marissa leads with heart. And her goal is simple: help kids fall in love with the game, believe in themselves, and become better on and off the court.

Training
At The Lab, our training is designed to develop complete athletes by focusing on every aspect of performance. We emphasize fundamentals to build confidence and consistency, while ball handling and shooting drills enhance control, creativity, and scoring ability. Our defensive training sharpens footwork, positioning, and intensity. Strength and speed work is incorporated to boost power and explosiveness, while mobility and flexibility exercises help prevent injury and improve movement. We also focus on mental performance to strengthen confidence, focus, and resilience, and offer nutritional guidance to support healthy habits, energy, and recovery. Every session is intentional—built to help athletes grow on the court and in life.
